Wow. This is horrible. I have spent the past week trying to make white paint on the face even. I have painted layers upon layers of the copper and gold paint to try and make it opaque enough to block out the wood grain underneath. My efforts were futile. I thought that if I just painted the whole face white, including over the features I have already painted with the copper and gold, then it would be like starting from a blank canvas. I tried to do this with the white spray primer I had grabbed from the Art room, but the paint sprayed out unevenly and puddled in some places. Then, I accidentally swiped my hand across it, smearing the paint. I couldn't fix it because it was in that gooey, semi-dry state where it just globs together. I thought I could just scrap all of it off with a knife and restart, but that didn't work either. I was planning on just getting another piece of wood and cutting a new face, but then I thought: why can't I just turn the wood over and paint on the back? So, I tried. And failed. Again. The wood on this side is uneven and a bit warped. The white paint isn't even. Just thinking about how awful it looks fills me with a barely containable rage.
I emailed Coach to inform him of my predicament. The way I see it, I have two options: buy all new materials and start from scratch, or use the iPad to create the artwork digitally. I am leaning towards using the iPad right now because it is the less expensive and more forgiving option; if I make a mistake, I can simply erase and try again. I would appreciate some forgiveness from my materials right now. In conclusion, I back at Square 1, and I am not happy about it.
