I’m calling this a mini project because I know it’s not gonna take me as long as my usual works. Plus, the content is a bit more obtuse than my usual style — which is saying something, considering the fact that I tend to prefer explicitly states messages that do not leave the viewer confused or lost. But I digress.
I had my video meeting with Coach Hall after the last class critique a few days ago. He gave me some artists to check out based on my current line of work. They include Barbara Kruger (a classic) and comic book artist David McKean. Both of these tend to manipulate images and digital art to create their works. Coach and I also talked about considering how I could use my access to the iPad and the digital apps on it for expressing a theme in visuals — like a photo that is actually about love, or growth, or recovery (three of my favorite themes/emotions!). I think this concept is truly the underlying motivation for any artwork for any artist, but I don’t know... I guess I just want to get back to the basics.
