I made a lot of progress on this project over the past week. It was difficult to add the details on the facial features because I had to do a lot of blending and erasing, but it helps that you can create multiple layers in the app I use. I made several copies of my initial face layer so that it would become opaque because with only one layer, you could see the blue background coming through the colors, but I didn't want to make any changes to my actual design of the face because I was afraid that I would only mess it up. I am not happy with the eyelashes right now, so I will probably go back and re-do them to make them look more realistic and dimensional, rather than flat. I also feel like I need to add more details to the lips because they are too smooth. The shading around the lower jaw is also bothering me, so I will go back and fix that. I feel like the whites of the eyes are also really flat, so I will probably zoom in on those and add fine details. My main concern right now is that I won't be able to achieve a realistic, 3-dimensional look. I really want that element of tangibility. Additionally, I need to add the highlights and shadows to the flag so that it also looks like a real solid. Then, I'll clean up all of the lines, figure out what I'm going to write on the card (and probably also change the color of it), and figure out what I want the background to look like. Obviously, there is still a lot of work that I want to do, but I am feeling much better about where I am on this project than I was a week ago.
