After taking a trip to the art supply store, I began to sketch an outline of my composition for this project. I am working from a photograph I took and edited myself. It is not necessarily complex in level of detail, but I want to focus on craftsmanship and synthesis of text and visuals in this assignment, so I didn’t want to chose a composition with too many distracting nuances (distracting for myself, as I am perfectionistic and am prone to perseveration). I picked up some illustration board and infrared metallic paint. I am going to be using acrylic paint for the skin and bra. The metallic paint is for a transparent layer over the bra to add the same shimmery appearance as in the photo. To keep with the pink undertones of the photo, I am going to be painting in shades of pink / blush for the skin. I am going to paint the bra on another surface and then mount it onto the illustration board so as to add dimension to the artwork. The chains of the necklaces will be where I incorporate original text into the piece, but I will not decide on the words until after I have finished painting.
